Well, since I just went on this tirade with one of my friends, I thought I would carry it over to the lj and see how pissed off people got. No, I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about society at large. Talk Radio, here I come, ha...

People treat sex like it's a legitimate lifestyle sport. No matter how you look at it, that fifteen minutes is never going to take up the whole 16 waking hours of the day. So why treat it like it can? Birth control allowed sex to become a form of escapism akin to drinking. Because society accepts trying to get laid as a legitimate passtime, people don't go out and invest themselves in real activities. Trying to get laid takes no money, no equipment, and no learned skill. Given, chasing tail can eventually be done become an art, but when it comes right down to it, anyone can try, it's succeeding that's difficult. Anyone and everyone can and will try to get laid. Were it not for birth control, recreational sex would never have gone mainstream. The only reason that there can be so much sex on tv and in society is because of the pill, which wasn't invented until the 60's. Otherwise, all the sex in the media would be one cruel joke after another. As is, that fifteen minutes of your day can monopolize your entire life. If your life is already complete, by all means, fuck your brains out. It's good for you. But if your life is not already complete, you'll find that that time period where you are not pissed off, bored, or tired only lasts 15 measley minutes (or maybe an hour if you're good). So go do something. Then go get laid.

Which do you think is the number one form of recreation in America: sex or drinking?
