Written Tuesday, February 23rd.
Marg, my buddy from choir who ice skates, told me on Sunday that one is "not supposed to" use any wedding gifts before the wedding. She thought it was silly, but she followed that tradition.
Hmm, well, J. is getting kinda annoyed at the pile of gifts cluttering up his spare bedroom. He wants to put them away. And we used one of our gift cards to buy some queen sheets, and I rather doubt he wants to wait another couple months before using the sheets and sleeping on the new bed he bought.
And why is one not supposed to use any wedding gifts before the wedding day? Marg said in case someone wants to host a "Sip n' See," a type of party where guests come, sip some punch or tea, and look at all the gifts the bride received. It seems awfully arrogant and pompous to me to show off like that, but Marg assured me that it's fun and she thinks it's interesting.
Huh, well. No one has offered to host that sort of party yet so I guess we'll just see. In the meantime, we'll be doing some sorting, exchanging, putting away, and using. If we don't, there won't be any room for me to put my regular stuff so that I can unpack it when the time comes.
