ah... a pumzika day. (pumzika=swahili for rest/relax)
i started by driving my car. i know that doesn't sound like a big feat, but trust me it is. i have an 89 landrover defender that doesn't have AC, the spedometer doesn't work, and is a stick-shift. i have never in my life driven a manual car before i got here and they also drive on the left side of the road. sooo it's been interesting. i only drove it around the block and to the gas station, but man i was a bit worn out after that.
then, i read some of my brilliant book, the Voice in the Wind, a Francine Rivers trilogy. even though it's a christian book it is actually simply great.
there were people at ingrid's for a bible study or something so i had tea with all these british and south african people. much fun.
after that i spent the day with daniela, a german here whose dog just had puppies 6 weeks ago. so we stayed at her house just playing with them and watching how clumsy they are. we ate a great lunch, then went back to do nothing again. i read and smoked... and read and smoked... it was great.
i still don't have a place to live, which has been the source of much stress in my life, but i think i am going to end up at the office like originally planned. at this point i just need a place to finally settle.
other than all of the stresses this week, it's been good. i am learning to love it here. although it's getting to be the hot season slowly every day. it's going to be effin hot in december. i'm already struggling with the heat. i'm gonna come back in december and be 40lbs lighter because i've sweat it all off. and the fact that i've been going to the gym 4 times a week.
i miss atlanta sometimes, even though we didn't leave on the best of terms when i left. i'm already wondering how different it and me are going to be in a year.
