Okay, so. Last night was the 30 Seconds to Mars concert, with special guests Retrograde, Keating, and Aiden.
Retrograde: A band from sunny Vancouver, British Columbia, who have a very nice sound to 'em. They almost have an Our Lady Peace/Foo Fighters sound to them, so it's not very heavy, but it's also not very light, either. I wouldn't mind seeing them again. And they did a very sweet cover of Peter Gabriel's Digging in the Dirt. -That- certainly made my night, even if it was only beginning.
Keating: If I wasn't mistaken, I'd say the lead vocalist of the band was gay, with the way he was prancing about on the stage. Which is -definately- not bad. And if he wasn't, he was certainly on something. It was good times with an energetic singer and an equally such band in general. I'd go see them again, too. Now, if only I could find some tracks that I'd recognize from the show last night.
Aiden: Great band soundwise. As a stage presense... Well, they were something else. With the way the lead was swinging the mic around on the state, it was almost looking like he'd nail one of his guitarists in the head with it. And get that man a wrist strap for that damned thing, because holy fuck. At least once a song, he'd drop it, so all you heard over everything else was this nice, loud *THUD!*. It was amusing. The way the singer had his face all done up, you'd swear you were at a Misfit's concert. Too bad he didn't have the hair to match. Their music is definately worth something to give a listen to. Hey Bladez? Which band was it that did the Braveheart thing a few concerts back when we went to Mac hall? Because I'm sure it wasn't Aiden... And I can't remember if I did a review for that show or not.
30 Seconds to Mars: Two words: Fucking awesome. They played almost everything from both albums, and I had fun screaming along. The two songs they didn't play from the first album, which I really love, which really irked me, was Jupiter and The Mission. But, their autographs on the CD cover for their first album more than made up for it. I'm gonna be looking forward to their next show here, for sure. Because damn. That was -awesome-.
As for their stage presense, Jared Leto, the lead singer, was all over us, making us clap, and even jumping into the crowd for a little standing on shoulders, and some short term crowdsurfing all over the place. And someone swiped his hat, too. Wish it were me.
All in all, the night was excellent, and Sib and I had a good time. However, it woulda rocked even further if I had my actual concert shoes on and less stuff with me, like my jacket and pocket full of phone, wallet, and keys. And my camera. Too bad all my pics turned out rather shitty, otherwise I woulda had some decent pics of almost everything.
Oh, I almost got me a pick from Aiden's lead guitarist when he threw it into the crowd at the end of their set. Too bad it bounced off my pocket! I even saw the fucker zip right to me! FUCK!
Also: Sandals and barefeet in a moshpit do not mix, you stupid kid. -Especially- when there's broken glass all over the place.
