The CloudxRiku site or Why You May Not Hear From Me For a Month

Feb 23, 2009 16:04

This site is going to be the death of me.

I've taken a moment to write this entry because it needs to be explained.

What went from a simple, "Hey, I'm gonna go and archive CloudxRiku stories onto one site" turned into "Hey, I want to recreate the epic fun that was the Joshtin days" to "I didn't go to college for this shit, ya know."

It's also become a LeonxSora site, too. Because one pairing just wasn't good enough.

Did I mention there would be forums? We're starting forums. Yeah...

That'll be fun, though. Personally, I love forums. They are super awesome. Cause their like IM-ing and chatrooms without the annoyance. And you can post all sorts of fun things. Like fanart.

Yay for fanart.

And people better appreciate this when its all done because I'm working hard. And like it. And be active because it will be fun if it kills me. And it just might for so many reasons.

Because the last sentence I said had the word fuck in it five fucking times.

Because I've been doing nothing but designing layout on lined notebook paper and brainstorming for the past three or four days.

Because when my tax return comes I owe $20 to my roommate for registering me a domain name for the next year.

Did I mention there would be forums?

And that I searched for over eight hours for free hosting that would not force ads on my site? It will be ad-free.

And did I mention I freaking registered a domain name? A freaking domain name just so I could look all professional and shit. I even get my own effing email.

And my poor roommate is spending most of her waking time drawing/making graphics for this freaking thing just so it doesn't look boring/like shit.

We had a fight over colors. I'm not kidding. Over colors. A fight over what colors things should be.

On the plus side we've dragged a third friend into this for more, fun ideas on features that should be available so the site can be more interactive. Cause we want people to come have fun even if CloudxRiku or LeonxSora are only pairings they kind of like.

Like the forums. Oh! And we're doing the fun featured writer/artist thingy. And we're going to have contests and make shiny banners for winners and stuff. And we're going to have columns/write articles about things regarding fandom/KH/shipping/etc and write fanfic/fanart guides. That will be fun. We're also going to invite other people to apply for their own columns, because that should be fun, too. I just hope people will want to do columns and guides.

Why shouldn't they? It's a chance to bitch about everything people do wrong. I bet there's a fight over who gets to write the bitch!guide about the importance of prewriting. Or staying in character. Or the "Why your male characters are not emotionally female" guide.

And if there isn't a fight I'll start one because I'm not doing all this for nothing.

On the happy side of things (besides all the fun stuff I get to do), I've gotten my grubby little hands on a very old copy of Dreamweaver, so I'm gonna go check that out now.

Why are ambitious projects my MO?

It was all the Joshtin days fault. Making me think fun communities are the only way to fandom. Like having fandom friends/contests/shiny banners/fandom activies are super exciting/important or something...

EDIT: Forgot to mention Friday is my birthday. Aren't I a lucky son of a...
