Leverage Meets Ellery Queen
I love a good obscure reference.
In last night’s episode of Leverage (The 10 Lil' Grifters Job), the team attended a mystery party where guests were dressed as famous fictional detectives. Nate was dressed as Ellery Queen.
I’ve been an Ellery Queen fan since way back. Ellery Queen was both the name of the author and the name of the detective in mysteries written from the 1930’s to the 1960’s. The character has appeared on screen several times, most recently in a short-lived series in the 1970’s. The costume Nate was wearing looked just like the outfits worn by Ellery Queen in that series.
But the resemblance didn’t end there. Timothy Hutton, who pays Nate, is the son of Jim Hutton, who played Ellery Queen in the TV series.
I was grinning throughout the entire episode because of that.
