My Nonstandard Opinion
I must rant about something.
Enough with the Gina hate already.
It is not Gina’s fault that Castle and Beckett aren’t together. Do you know whose fault it is? It’s Castle and Beckett’s fault.
I have already been involved in one fandom where the rabid fangirls made death threats against every female character under the age of 40 that appeared in more than one episode. The result? A series completely devoid of strong any female characters. A series that is weaker for not having solid female characters. A series that had to randomly promote a one-episode ex-girlfriend to being “important” when the story arc needed it.
Every time I see a post saying “oh I hate Gina I wish Castle would dump her” (or words to that effect), I wither a little inside, and I want to say “be careful what you wish for.” I want to tell those fans to grow up.
The writers gave us these wonderful characters that we revel in every week, stories that we discuss to death, dialog that we quote over and over again. How about trusting that those writers know what they're doing.
