Random thoughts about last Monday's episode. (Late, I know, it's been a busy week.)
Spoilers include a miniscule spoiler for "Naked Heat" in thought #3.
1. Lanie is awesome.
2. I think the bit with Esposito in a neck brace was supposed to be funny. It wasn't. Even a little.
3. Except ... I was reading "Naked Heat" while I was waiting for the episode to come on. In it, not-Ryan and not-Esposito are getting ready to visit a skeevy lawyer. Nikki warns them not to come back with a neck brace. So my brain stumbled when Esposito appeared in a neck brace.
4. Loved Beckett's giant moth theory - Castle's rubbing off on her - and that she then denied it.
5. I really liked the minor guest characters in this episode. Mr. D'Andre, the extremely large, intimidating, taciturn first suspect; Abe Sandwich (oh...kay), the antique weapons expert; Ivan "Yosemite Sam" Podofski, the suspect & antique weapons collector; Lord Henry, the crazy homeless guy. Podofski had the best mustache ever.
6. The steampunk stuff was really cool, and I wish they'd gotten to it earlier. I'm familiar with steampunk, and Castle's explanation didn't do it justice.
7. The scene at the gun range was great.
8. Laughed at Beckett's pat answer to "How do you know when you're in love?"
9. Interesting to meet both Alexis's and Kate's new boyfriends in this episode. I look forward to finding out more about them.
10. Lovely tribute to Stephen J. Cannell at the end. I watched a lot of shows that he created.
