Thinking Outside the Box

Do you ever have those moments as a fic writer when something happens in the actual show that reminds you of a scene or a fic that you wrote well before any sort of spoilers or trailers for that episode become available?

This happens to me occasionally - more, I think, because most of my fics are drabbles and since I've written such a vast quantity of separate ideas, the law of averages suggests that at least some of them will come true in one way or another. It's a delightful "I got this right!" feeling.

(It would be fun to have a conspiracy theory about the show's writers reading my fics, but I don't think I can inflate my ego to be that big.)

So, in last night's Castle, it happened again.

Or, more precisely, it's happening again.

You know that lovely cliffhanger they left us with?

(I'm spoiler-free for the resolution. Well, I assume Castle and Beckett survive.)

Okay, now go read my very first ever Castle fanfic. It's a drabble (100 words) that I wrote about two years ago.

Breathe In, Breathe Out

Do you see what I mean? I'm feeling very amused right about now ...

Can't wait for the resolution to that cliffhanger.
