again last night

I thought of it again last night
the night i cant forget
a night filled with lots of laughter
but also with regret
i replay every moment
and analyze each word
this isnt the first time
or even the second or the third
i think of his arms around me
the words whispered in my ear
how well he took care of me
the future seemed so clear
i cant make you mad tonight
was what my darling said
he should have thought about that
before he went to bed
reality hit me
when i woke up the next day
people dont always follow through
on the things they say
people ask me what happened
and tell them i just might
ill never repeat every word
he said to me that night
he looked into my eyes
and said something so true
how can you argue
with "i care so much about you"
its something you never really get over
something so hard to take
the first time a little girl

no one knows the whole truth
