Even though it appears that this community hasn't been written in for awhile, I wanted to take the time to mention that
daydee died in the early hours of August 31st, 2016 at the age of thirty-four years old.
She had cystic fibrosis and got a double-lung transplant on June 6th, 2012. Because of this, she spent four more years with friends and family that she would otherwise likely not have had. I became a friend of hers on Facebook after she had gotten her transplant, having several mutual friends in common, and always valued our conversations and interactions. However, in 2016 she went into chronic rejection. Although her initial intentions were to get healthy enough to list for re-transplant (and to get one if the call came), this sadly turned out not to be possible. However, she was able to keep her heart beating long enough to be able to donate her liver to a lucky recipient in Vancouver, B.C. and pay forward the gift of life that she herself had gotten in 2012 in the most literal, humbling, awe-inspiring way possible. As her husband said writing in her transplant group on Facebook, although she wanted to live, if her body could no longer sustain her, she would make it possible to donate what she could to others. She was able to donate her corneas to someone as well, giving them the gift of sight. (I too envy the person who is getting to see the world through her eyes!)
In the earlier days, she was active in the cystic fibrosis community
cystic_fibrosis here on LiveJournal.
I will miss her very much.
