These are just sniffs, only one worn yet, and it needs a bottle! I'm scared!
TOP WINNERS!! (I wish I could do in top order, but I'm going in order listed on the website.)
#1 MEDITATION IN AUTUMN (This reminds me of our spare bedroom in the house I grew up in, which was frequently my playroom amongst the clutter. This smells like dust, like that room, and I LOVE IT.)
A desolate scent, dusty, bleak, and withered: old wood, burnt brown sandalwood, and twisted vines.
#2 PUMPKIN I (which smells like a delicious Indian restaurant!!!)
Pumpkin with mango, persimmon, coconut, and myrrh.
#3 PUMPKIN II (this smells of Possets' Hyde Park... in October!)
Pumpkin with black musk, leather accord, tonka, teak, orange wood, and opoponax.
#4 PUMPKIN IV (This one is TRULY the pumpkin patch. The sage makes this one WIN.)
Pumpkin with white sage, cherry tobacco, honey, smoky vanilla, cedar, and pine.
#5 BROM BONES (I want to sex anyone wearing this, OMG.)
The butchest, manliest of musks covered in well-worn leather.
#6 FEARFUL PLEASURE (This one is BOTTLE WORTHY. How will it ever be fall without this scent? This scent IS FALL. JEEZUS, I hope they will do this again. :)
Dried orange peels floating in simmering cider, roasted apples, smoldering firewood, chimney smoke, sassafras beer, warm hawthorn wood, and oakmoss.
#7 GUNPOWDER (The happy apple notes in this one make it a winner. Reminds me of orchards more than of horses, but I do love horses!)
Carrot peelings, hay, chaff, molasses, maple oats, red apples, stable wood, and musk.
#8 THE HESSIAN OF THE HOLLOW (It smells of Christopher Walken.)
Grave moss and bone-white sandalwood, with vetiver, gunpowder, artillery shrapnel, and blood.
--------------
These are my 'Ok, I will try them because they do not smell like yuck' winners, so far:
(yes, there were five that smelled like yuck :(
AUTUMN COOLNESS
The scent of wisteria, Cymbidium, lotus blossom, and cassia buds drifting on a breeze through gently swaying bamboo reeds.
DAY OF THE SKULLS
White sandalwood, beeswax, and frankincense crowned by hydrangea, rose, and kantuta blossoms, dressed with tobacco, cocoa leaves and flowers from the sacred Cactus of the Four Winds.
GRAVEYARD DIRT 2008 (Mausoleum by Conjure Oils is MUCH better :)
This is the scent of pure graveyard dust, spattered with grave loam and dusted lightly with tombstone moss.
HUESOS DE SANTO
Orange-glazed cake, dotted with anise seed, and filled with custard, set beside a bouquet of celebratory funeral flowers.
MICTECACIHUATL
Copal, precious woods, South American spices, agave nectar, cigar tobacco, and roses.
SAMHAIN 2008 (I don't like this, but I'm hoping the patchouli will exit stage right with wearing)
Truly the scent of autumn itself -- damp woods, fir needle, and black patchouli with the gentlest touches of warm pumpkin, clove, nutmeg, allspice, sweet red apple and mullein.
STICKY PILLOWCASE (Very strawberry, and blue sugar!)
Terminal sugar rush. A little goblin's candy bag, upended. Smushed candy corn, rock candy dust, marshmallow gunk, strawberry goo, spun blue sugar, globs of salt water taffy, and lint.
SUGAR SKULL 2008 (Reminds me of Sugared Plums by YC)
Vibrant with the joy and sweetness of life in death! A blend of five sugars, lightly dusted with candied fruits.
PUMPKIN III (I've never smelled parsley in a perfume before, strange.)
Pumpkin with pink grapefruit, lemon verbena, yuzu, lime, parsley, and mint.
THE GOBLIN RIDER
The scent of fear, and terrifying pursuit: wind-whipped, chilly night air, oppressive black pine, globs of dark opopponax, and bleak cedar, and distant, unreachable church incense.
THE SCHOOL-HOUSE (Pretty, but too white and green for me)
Dandelion, white clover, balsam fir logs, and birchwood switches.
THE SHATTERED PUMPKIN (Something in this makes me want to sneeze, but it's very much the essence of Sleepy Hollow)
Soil-covered crushed pumpkin, water-weeds, saddle-leather, and pine pitch.
KATRINA VAN TASSEL (My nose is giving out, and I have a cold... my first thought was that there is too much violet in here, but I guess it's the rose? I somehow wanted this one to be my Torture Queen, the one that I love the most.)
White rose and honeyed cream.
WILEY'S SWAMP (this is all brown, at first sniff, but at reading the description, it's brown and green.)
Water-logged and rotting wood, fallen chestnuts, oak leaf, bog laurel, and Virginia creeper.
THE WITCHING TIME OF NIGHT (I feel like my colours are dead on with this set! It was all purple for me! It's too floral and watery for me, though.)
Moonflower, night-blooming cereus, white hellebore, English ivy, monkshood, angel's trumpet, oleander, and eastern hemlock.
