Okay I'm going to make a completely public post because I need as much help as I can get.

Other than Twilight, can anyone tell me what other vampire-related novels they have read (title/series and author) currently in the marketplace and give me an uber short rundown on what they're about (ie. Is it set in a school? Is it about a mortal hooking up ( Read more... )

True Blood - You know what it's about.

Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine - (I love this series <3). Girl moves to small town for college, town is ruled by vampires with strict rules (blood donations for protection people wear a bracelet showing by who they're claimed, etc.). The series evolves into quite a different story though where the oldest most powerful vampires fight for Morganville and Claire has to help one side. Also great secondary storyline of guy who is ghost becomes vampire and the Glass Houses with portals around town and this mad professor type vampire who runs the town behind-the-scenes with crazy machinery. Oh and there's also a storyline of some of the vampires getting a disease which Claire has to find a cure for.

The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice - classic series.

Vampire Academy by Rachelle Mead - It tells the story of Rosemarie "Rose" Hathaway, a seventeen-year-old Dhampir girl, who is training to be a bodyguard for her Moroi best friend, Vasilisa "Lissa" Dragomir. In the process of learning how to defeat Strigoi (the undead and evil vampires) in St. Vladimir's Academy, Rose finds herself caught in a forbidden romance with her handsome instructor, Dimitri Belikov, while having an unbreakable bond with Lissa. (thank you Wikipedia)

House of Night by P. C. Cast & Kristin Cast - It follows the adventures of Zoey Redbird, a sixteen-year-old girl who has just become a fledgling Vampyre and is required to attend the House of Night boarding school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. (wikipedia)

And that's all I can think of :/ Tbh the supernatural genre has exploded but not necessarily the vampire one (LOTS of angels, zombies, werewolves and pixies nowadays). Sure there are loads of single books about vampires but not many series that I know of.

Doesn't "True Blood" go by the title "Sookie Stackhouse books"?

I have never read the books so I don't know. But Jules watches the TV-show so I figure she knows what I mean as well as the general storyline ;)

Yep, I think it was originally called the Southern Vampire series or something... but they now are known as the "Sookie Stackhouse" books. canadian_turtle knows me well enough to make VERY subtle references to stuff I already know about. ;)
