Heroes Fanvid for the Petrelli Brothers - "Fix You" by Coldplay

Dec 06, 2006 21:09

Okay I'm gonna dedicate this one to never_evil for inspiring me to make it through all our discussions on Nathan and Peter Petrelli. Sadly not everything could fit into this song, but I did my best to show the relationship between the two siblings, how Nathan tries to combat his younger brothers "delusions of grandeur" while still making his own fatal ( Read more... )

*hugz*

I absolutely adore you for making a Petrelli vid but now I adore you even more [as if such a thing were possible] for doing it so beautifully and with the most perfect song.

Aww thank you! *glee* That's what I said, I was talking to you and lightning struck, it was just SO fitting!

And that banner pic? So fitting with the song because Nathan has come to "fix" the situation!

Thanx, I stole it off you ;) No really, I did LOL I realised that bit wasn't on the show when I was doing up the vid, and the screencap I was gonna use didn't work out, so I went and chased down that post in your journal cause THAT was the pic I wanted :$ And LMAO how funny was that that Nathan even SAID that to Peter in the episode!!! He'd come to fix his problems/mistakes (at least I'm sure he said that. Could have been clean up his messes... but same deal). And didn't you just love the "Have you got it out of your system now?" comment? *snickers*

And asgfsdjdkgfh I'll be back for a more in-depth discussion tomorrow night because at the moment I'm being grumbled at to close the lights and go to sleep LOL. pfff like anyone needs that when there's something Heroes to squee over

hehe true! :D And I'm hanging for that cause I've been dying to ramble to you about it :$

I was kind of disappointed that the scene never showed up although hugs are great for the soul too.

heh the unsure "do I hug my brother?" moment. ♥

Peter failing to fly scene in the "try your best, but you don't succeed" awww spot on! And kind of also made me think of Peter as a little boy wanting his parents attention but never succeeding no matter how well he did or tried.

Thanks :D Was a little unsure about using that scene again, but it personified the line *nods* And yeah I have that view of Peter, it's something that goes hand in hand with being a dreamer and wanting to help people, you're constantly striving for the need to be accepted and told that you're doing things right. I think he looks a lot to Nathan for that support, but Nathan rarely gives it.

That scene you used so embodied the fact that Nathan may get to win his campaign [which he wants to so badly] but what he really needs is Peter's love

OMG you totally got what I was trying to convey!!!! *hugz* THANK U!

I don't think there is anything ruthless enough that Nathan may do and Peter won't forgive him for it.

Yep. And I think it's cause Peter has this understanding that he knows what Nathan is like... like as if he's "Acting out" but he knows he doesn't really mean it. (I don't exactly think that, but that's the closest to what I can state it)

I'm sure that as much as Peter does not care about his father Nathan cared too much.

You know what? When I was cutting that scene, I noticied that neither of them seemed to have a devastated kind of reaction to the news. Once I edited it together though it came across more as Nathan seemed too preoccupied with what "could have happened" while Peter, more than anything, just looked shocked at the news - like his father was just this huge presence he never expected to go away.

cared about the expectations placed upon him. He may hate them but maybe it's also something that makes him feel secure?

I dunno. What would you do if your whole life you've had to do what your parents told you to, that you had to live up to the responsibility they placed on your shoulders, that you would be seen as a failure if you could not achieve what was expected of you... and then it was suddenly gone? You'd probably feel a little lost. Certainly Nathan is ambitious, so he wouldn't want to admit to failure. I think it's what makes him try so hard, and he puts himself under a lot of pressure that way. It's probably also a factor to trying to "fix" his family's problems.

Peter and Nathan each others constant pillars, beacons of hope?

Definately each other's rock. The person they know they can most turn to is each other.

"and ignite your bones"
LOL literally in Peter's case -.-;

haha yeah. That was crazy, especially since I had already started working on the vid before the episode. They were just making it easy for me ;)

Also that increased pace and climax scenes were used so well in the chorus bit.

Thank you :D I ♥ that too. The perfect way to describe this vid is it's so angsty and sweet. :( I miss the boys already.

there was more anguish in Nathan's eyes when he saw Heidi crashing than when he broke the news of his father's death.

Uh huh *nods* I noticed that. He looked crushed when he found out the news about Heidi, but his dad didn't seem to be as important. And I guess with the negative kind of relationship he held with his sons, there's a good reason for that.

But then again he could have had his "press" face on. After all, he was lying about the cause of death to his brother just as he would be to the press soon after.

Oh, that's true. Maybe he was more preoccupied with having to lie to his brother to protect him (as I'm sure has happened many times). That's such a bad thing to have to lie to the closest member in your family about how their father died.

Just wondering...what do you mean by "what could have happened"? Do you mean about Nathan's father finding out about his sons back-stabbing him?

Yup, exactly what I meant ;) But you added to that point as well. Obviously he had a lot of things going on in his head in that moment.

even if the suicide wasn't caused by this, Nathan would definitely take the suicide to mean that his father DID find out and that he was responsible for his death.

Oh man! Good point. How damn guilty would you feel about that? So much self-blame :( Poor Nathan.
