*does a happy dance*
I'm getting better! This makes me happy. There's still nasty sputum and a wicked chest cough, but it's going away. So I should be at my sexy best for Tamazon's party tomorrow night, prepatory to meeting
ladythmpr (who is visiting sunny New Zealand) and Alabaster's new squeeze who I haven't thought of a nickname for yet - once I meet her, maybe. I hope I like her. I really really do. It would suck if she's not as nice or fun as me. *sigh* But Alabaster has good taste - I'm right, aren't I,
whitsunday?
Started to wrap Christmas presents last night, using the last of my wrapping paper from last year. I'll have to go and buy some more rolls this weekend. Also wrapped
growler_south's birthday present, and FuzzyBen's birthday present. I'm organised! *pats self proudly*
I collected my videos of Twin Peaks on Wednesday, and settled down to watch them last night, after hauling my VCR downstairs and hooking it into the television. Since Dan was given a DVD player for his birthday no one uses the video player but me anyhow. Discovered that while I have both seasons, I don't have the pilot. Grr. Continued regardless - I'd seen the series when it was on TV, so I picked up who the characters were again pretty quickly.
I watched six episodes - nearly all of Season One - last night, and today everything is in "noir-vision"™ (hee - I can do ASCII - thanks
logfish). Shelly Johnson (played by
Mädchen Amick) looks remarkably like Kennedy (played by
Iyari Limon) to me - or maybe it's just the eyebrows.
I'm sure some of you have written Twin Peaks fanfic - there are so many wonderful subtexts going on! Come on, you know you want to dust it off and show me ...
Meme thing ...

mactavish What do you call:
1. A body of water, smaller than a river, contained within relatively narrow banks?
A creek. Usually with supermarket trolleys and old tyres in them.
2. What the thing you push around the grocery store supermarket?
A trolley. This is before they end up in the creek.
3. A metal container to carry a meal in?
A lunchbox. Or a microwave, if you're really strange.
4. The thing that you cook bacon and eggs in?
A frying pan. But ick.
5. The piece of furniture that seats three people?
A sofa, or couch. Our house has three of them, at last count.

The drainpipe - connects to the gutters.
7. The covered area outside a house where people sit in the evening?
The verandah. Or deck.

Soft drink. Coke seems to be popular, but I prefer lemonade myself.
9. A flat, round breakfast food served with syrup?
Pancakes! Yum.
10. A long sandwich designed to be a whole meal in itself?
Thanks to the food-chain known as Subway, they're now called Subs. But that's a relatively new phenomenon in New Zealand. We're pie and burger people by nature.

Togs. Men and women wear swimming togs. Togs.

Glow-fly.
15. The little insect arthropod that curls up into a ball?
The wha'?
16. The children's playground equipment where one kid sits on one side and goes up while the other sits on the other side and goes down?
See-saw. I love them.
17. How do you eat your pizza?
With my fingers - pointy end first. I'm having pizza for lunch today.
18. What's it called when private citizens put up signs and sell their used stuff?
A garage sale (pronounced GAR-aj, not GA-raaje)
19. What's the evening meal?
Tea, or dinner.
20. The thing under a house where the furnace and perhaps a rec room are?
We don't have furnaces often, but that's the basement, or rumpus room. Or just 'downstairs'.
