I've been a total slacker with the entries this week, and that's not acceptable *slaps hand*. So here's a late night update, for all you love birds out there ...
Writing Stuff
My planning for
NaNoWriMo is now in full swing. I have a first line, some ideas and concepts floating around, and I have persuaded
sussi that she wants to be a part of the madness too. Which makes me happy. I'm carting around a flip-top notebook (the ones with spirals on the left are awful if you're left-handed) in my handbag so I can scribble when I feel like it.
The SNIPs group on Tuesday were exceedingly helpful - thank you Yve, Pengy2, and
sussi for helping out.
FuzzyBen is lending me his laptop (which somehow I never knew he had until he mentioned it this afternoon) so I can write in New Plymouth and in Auckland when I want to / have to / drive myself to. This also makes me happy. Add to the package a brand new box of 25 disks, and once I've laid in some supplies of V I'll be all set. 22 days to go ...
Oh - and a new
sunday100 drabble - the theme this week was photo albums / snapshots.
I'll write some more Summer Dreaming tomorrow - keep an eye out for it.
Bloody Volunteers
I gave platelets for the first time yesterday - usually I donate plasma, which takes about an hour. Platelets takes twice as long, and left me feeling twice as drained (heh). Alabaster met me at the Donor Centre, and kindly took over driving duties, as I really wasn't feeling up to it. The procedure itself was fine - they hooked me up and fed me apple juice and gave me a blanket when I got cold. I got a bit tired of squeezing the squishy thing in my right hand after about an hour, and my shoulder started to cramp up from not being able to move my arm, but that was about the worst of it. In the end, they took out (and put back) over three litres of my blood, and held onto 429ml of platelets, along with a little plasma for them to float it. Good stuff.
I'm not donating again until mid-November, so I'll give my body plenty of time to recover. But I think I might arrange for a driver next time, too.
Blather
I introduced Alabaster to Hedwig and the Angry Inch last night. I know that I blather about it a lot, but it really is worth seeing. I'm one of those people who totally adored it, while he was not. But it was still worth having seen, he thought (I think).
My car failed it's warrant on Monday, but one park light (which BigTaz helped me learn how to replace - thanks, bro), and two new tyres (ouch) later, I am warranted and ready to travel. The Selkie is a good li'l car - the most un-citrusy vehicle I have ever owned. Touch wood. There's another tyre that'll need replacing soon, so I have to remember to do that before going to New Plymouth.
Saw FuzzyBen for a few hours this afternoon - we went sexy underwear shopping for this weekend (successful and under budget, if you please!), and then grabbed a quick dinner at Bosco Verdi, a lovely little Italian restaurant in Greenwoods Corner. Then I dropped him at his RPG, and joined
neongraal for a few episodes of Angel. Getting there - we watched Awakening, Soulless and Calvary. He's not feeling to well, poor soul, but it was nice to curl into him for a few hours.
I'm all quizzed out for a few days - I'll just leave you with this:
You're all amazing people, and I'm happy to share my life with you! Good night!
