Life has been good and quietly sociable this week. Had dinner with
poing_critter and
starfirenz on Tuesday, Firecracker on Wednesday, and
hiddendenim on Thursday. Tonight it's home-made pizza followed by fresh comic-book goodness courtesy of Gotham Comics.
Purchases:
~ The latest Buffy comic (#4,
Joan Chen cover)
~ The latest two
Dark Tower comics (#5 and #6) - my brother is also reading this, probably the only comics I've ever been able to interest him in. This pleases me.
~ The final
Strangers in Paradise (#90, all three covers - geek, thy name is Deb).
~ The new comic from Warren Ellis:
Black Summer (Issue #0 - funky!).
~ and (because a trip to the comic store is not complete without at least one graphic novel, something called
30 Days of Night (Vol. 1). I'm disposed to like it, as I adore Ben Templesmith's artwork (he did the work on Fell, another Warren Ellis piece of work), and it's going to be a movie soon. Neat!
Funny,
fuzzy_ben never complains about what I spend at the comic store ... probably because he gets to reap the benefits as much as I do!
Things to make you think or blink:
~ The concept of a
robot crimewave scares me fascinates me. In a very sci-fi 'the future is here' fashion.
~ This soap is
too meta for my bathroom.
~ An interesting feature article about
sex and economics and promiscuity and STD's.
~ A video where
Joss Whedon answers questions (including one about
Fray), makes jokes, and threatens Warren Ellis.
~ How would you
explain the internet of today to a person in 1977? Charlie Stross discusses the complications.
