Gummidge Queen!

Strange but true: I have fallen headlong into the depraved world of *dum dum dum* roleplaying. See the pretty new icon? That's the lengths to which I have gone. An icon. With dice. *presses back of hand to forehead* Woe! I am lost.

2HC: Awake Too Early - Rolling On, written before I participated in my first game, describes how I was feeling about embarking on this odd new journey:
I imagine that quite a few of you, like me, have no particular interest in RPG’s. And that the rest of you, like Ben, having been playing for years - either as a group clustered in a lounge, sprawled out across the internet, or in live-action form. So either you’re going to be fascinated about how I got myself dragged into this … or you’re going to be fascinated about how it took me so long to get dragged into this. read more*

My first game, an Unknown Armies one-shot GM'ed by the venerable theunshaven, took place last Sunday. Held at Castle Wolverine, we had the participatory efforts of myself and Ben, Andei and Tamazon, and doc_spatial, with the lovely poing_critter watching the action on the sidelines. Unfortunately, it did not go very well, although I have been assured that I did an excellent job on my first time out. There had been much post-game dissection, both online and in person, and there's now a fair notion of what went *phut*. Really, I just want to play the scenario again, to see how we can make it work better.

Once we got home that evening, Ben gave me my own set of dice - which I bounced and squeed about, giving you an indication of how much this joyfulled me. He still has yet to create a livejournal (bad Ben! no biscuit!), but the dice have kept me appeased for a few days. I keep looking at them, and counting the different sides. Sad but true.

As of this Sunday, the much-awaited Buffy RPG begins! Ben has finalised the players as myself, theunshaven, doc_spatial, poing_critter, and mugginsm. I have a character sheet and an idea of what I am doing. There has been much discussion all around, and I have been flinging academic articles and meta-discussions at doc_spatial with gleeful abandon (note: I have an excellent memories section full of Buffy Essays. Worth checking out on a rainy afternoon).

So yes. I have fallen. The geekdom level is rising, and I have my water-wings on.
