Sensory Pleasure part 9 - (01/28/2008)

Jan 28, 2008 12:40

It feels good to get back to this. And I want to thank everyone for your kind words. I appreciated it. :) I'm doing better, though, so hopefully I should be able to refocus a bit more on my writing. And I know I have another fic that desperately needs to be updated - don't worry, I won't forget about it. ;)

Title: Sensory Pleasure (part 9/?)

Author: That'd be me. *grins* Andrew, Obsidian, call me what you want. But only if it's nice. ;)

Rating: PG-13, at least.

Previously, on Sensory Pleasure: Amy proposes that Lucy's next out-of-state job be somewhere warmer, then Lucy sedates her with a drug that has the side effect of making her somewhat... friendly towards two-thirds of the rest of her squad, much to Janet's confusion; Bobby visits a recovering Amy and does not listen when she says she's going to throw up; and while taking a walk to clear her head, Amy stumbles upon some of Lucy's people and accidentally facilitates (another) arms deal.

Legal Disclaimer: I do not own 'D.E.B.S.', Angela Robinson does. Though if I had my way, there would have been a sequel or two by now. ;)

"Tonight, could I be lost forever?
To drown my soul in sensory pleasure."

~Natalie Imbruglia, Beauty on the Fire (album - White Lilies Island (2001))

They'd been kind enough to give her the front passenger seat, which, considering this left several of them crammed into the back in what had to be an uncomfortable arrangement, she thought was very nice of them.

All the way back to the 'Evil Lair' - a trip she actually got to see this time - she was mostly lost in thought. Thinking about what she'd just done. Thinking about what it would mean for her and her career if anyone found out about it.

And, for some reason, thinking about that look Lucy had given her back in Alaska while screwing her on the desk.

She'd never had anyone look at her quite like that. Ever. As a result, she didn't quite know how to interpret it. It was like adoration and desire and something else, something stronger, all rolled into one.

She knew this was really neither the time nor the place to be thinking about such things, but she couldn't help it. Lucy Diamond had taken over her brain. She'd never felt anything quite like what she did around Lucy. Excitement, nervousness, anticipation, anxiety, giddiness, desire... More then desire, really. 'Lust' seemed to fall short. It was a physical sensation, a burning need that made everything else secondary. Nothing else mattered when she was with Lucy, beyond pleasing her lover. The intensity of her emotions and physical response terrified her, frankly, but not as much as losing them.

She realized, with some chagrin, that despite knowing how bad an idea it would be, despite how many rules and laws she would be breaking, she'd still somehow managed to fall for Lucy Diamond.

And she'd fallen hard.

She smiled at Lucy's people when they got there, and made sure to thank them for the ride. They insisted, once again, that it was no problem, and escorted her inside.

Apparently, she'd managed to win over at least some of Lucy's people without even trying.

That probably wouldn't be a bad thing for her, she thought.

She ran into Scud first, who seemed surprised to see her. "What are you doing here?"

"Where's Lucy?" she asked, which was sort of an answer. Scud eyed her for a second, as if determining whether or not to tell her, then shrugged and said, "Come with me."

They followed him - and it hadn't escaped either her or Scud that the mercs were still with them - to the second floor where Lucy was studying a printout of something which she flipped over as soon as she saw who was approaching her. Lucy grinned at her, making her feel like she might melt into a puddle, and she had a distracting vision of herself pouncing on Lucy despite their audience and... She flushed a little and shook herself back to reality, but by then the mercs had moved over to Lucy to give her a report on the job.

Amy could tell when they got to the part where she arrived by the surprised look Lucy shot her, and wished the floor would just swallow her up.

"Um, did you...?" Scud began quietly.

"Yeah," she replied, in just as low of a tone.

"Did you mean to...?"

"Not... exactly."

"Uh...huh. I see."

"Good. Could you maybe explain it to me, now?" Lucy looked shocked, then pleased, if in a confused way, and Amy wondered why this embarrassing day wouldn't just END, already. The lead merc was gesturing emphatically, looking enthusiastic about whatever he was saying, so she was certain she had, indeed, won him over.

She wondered what that said about her.

"Could you all excuse us for a minute?" Lucy asked, though judging by the way the mercs and even Scud scattered, it had only been phrased as a request to be polite. Lucy walked over, took her hand, and lead her to the familiar confines of her bedroom. "Is that true? You facilitated an arms deal?" She paused, then added, "Again?"

"I didn't mean to!" Amy burst out, her expression pleading for understanding.

Lucy would have liked to oblige, but unfortunately she didn't quite understand just yet. "How do you accidentally set up an arms deal?"

"I just wanted them to stop fighting, before someone got hurt!" she exclaimed. "Not just them, but any possible innocent bystanders, too. I just... wasn't thinking."

Lucy studied her for a few moments. "Don't take this the wrong way, but..." She paused, taking a breath. "You know, for having such a bleak outlook on criminals you are well on your way to becoming one: Fraternizing with the enemy, not telling your bosses, setting up an arms deal, assaulting a government team and preventing them from capturing the most wanted, stealing one of the most valuable diamonds in the world, lying to your bosses some more, blowing off a mission to capture the most wanted yourself to spend some time with her, and then setting up another arms deal."

Amy looked like she'd been slapped after hearing the full recitation of everything she'd done. After several failed attempts at speaking, she finally, eyes wide, demanded, "There's a right way to take that?!"

Lucy winced, acknowledging that she'd been less then subtle. But she knew Amy was going to drive herself crazy if she just kept pretending that she was pure and innocent and had done nothing wrong. She had to at least acknowledge her actions before she could move past them. "The sad thing is, you're more successful by accident at this business then a lot of the people I've worked with in the past are on purpose, which either says bad things about them, or that you're being wasted in your current job."

"Yes, speaking of being wasted," Amy said, not so much evading Lucy's statement as flat out ignoring it, "what the hell did you inject me with back in Alaska, anyway?"

Lucy blinked. "Why?"

"'Why'? Because it had me all but molesting my team, that's why!"

Lucy frowned. "It shouldn't have... Huh. That's interesting."

"'Interesting'?" Amy repeated, incredulous. Lucy gave her an impish grin and flopped down on the bed. Fine, then. She wanted to play it like that, did she? "Although," Amy continued in a more contemplative tone, "Dominique is one hell of a kisser."

For some odd reason, Lucy didn't seem quite as amused anymore.

"And Max has a fantastic ass," Amy continued, tilting her head a bit and giving a wistful sigh, as if lost in the memories. "Oh, the things I could have done to-"

"Okay, I get it!" Lucy interrupted, and Amy had to hide her grin. "No more needles. Fine. You know, this really would all be so much simpler if you just became my partner for real, rather then just in government fantasy land."

"Simple's overrated," Amy told her, then decided to distract her the most efficient way she knew how.

"Yeah, well..." Lucy's thought process was somewhat derailed as Amy began stripping off her clothes.

"I liked what we did in Alaska," Amy told her, voice dropping an octave or two. "But there was a definite drawback: I didn't get to touch you."

"Yes, but-" Lucy attempted, and Amy interrupted before she could remember what she'd been saying.

"I like touching you," she purred, pushing Lucy down onto the bed, and proceeded to prove it.

It wasn't until the next morning that Lucy finally remembered what she'd been trying to talk to Amy about.

Of course, by that time, Amy herself was long gone.

That sneaky little minx, she thought with a grin, though she had to admit that she'd hardly minded Amy's method of distraction.

She was still smiling even as she explained the new plan to Scud.

"Okay, I'm a little confused," he admitted. "Since when did we decide to go to Hawaii?"

"Since yesterday," Lucy replied easily. "Now that the arms deal's gone through, it'd be a good idea to lay low for a few days, and the boys could use some time off."

"No, I get that, but... Hawaii?"

"Why not? We deserve a vacation, even if just a short one. We go to Hawaii, you find some hula girl to distract yourself with, I wait for a certain blonde someone to get there and steal some more time with her... Tell me that doesn't sound perfect."

He held up a hand, grinning. "Relax, Luce. You had me at 'hula girl'." They shared a chuckle. "She's really gotten to you, hasn't she?"

For a moment Lucy considered feigning ignorance of what - or rather, who - he was talking about, but knew that would just be prolonging the inevitable. "She really has," she confessed. "Cliché as it may sound, I've never felt this way about anyone before. Ever. I could probably be happy with her even if I was just... renting sailboats to tourists somewhere."

"Wow." Because none of her past girls had ever made Lucy even consider the straight life.

"I know." She chuckled. "Somehow, though, I'm starting to doubt it'll come to that, especially if she keeps having those 'accidents'."

"Well, just so long as she doesn't convince you to join her side, instead..."

Lucy snorted at that. "Please. In what alternate universe do you see me ever wanting to wear plaid?"

Amy was all but vibrating with nervous energy as she waited to board the DEBS plane.

It had been over a day since she'd last seen Lucy, and she was starting to go into 'withdrawal' again, to the point where Max's typical strut was becoming almost hypnotic. Was this how Dominique felt all the time? No wonder she was usually so reserved, then. Maybe that was the only way to maintain one's self-control until a suitable outlet for one's frustration presented itself.

And seriously, Max needed to quit shaking her ass like that, or Amy would NOT be held responsible for her actions.

She almost collapsed from sheer relief when they were finally able to board the plane, as not only did it mean Max had to sit down and stop being so distracting, but that she was that much closer to seeing Lucy again.

You're the one who wants to keep staying away from her, her mind whispered. Well, no, she didn't want to, she just had to. No, you don't. You could go with her. You know nothing else on the planet will ever make you as happy as she does. But there was more at stake then just her own happiness. What about the rest of the world? She had to try and keep it safe from people... well, people like Lucy. And what are you, yourself, accomplishing, really? You're their poster girl, yes, but that's all they see you as: someone to be on their posters. They'd get along just fine without you. But what about Lucy? Wouldn't she be better off having a girlfriend who could warn her if the feds were getting too close?

The voice in her head was silent at this, and she knew she'd managed to win another round with herself... for now, anyway.

If only Lucy didn't affect her the way she did...

The mission briefing had been a bit confusing, since they'd had no idea what Lucy and her partner might want in Hawaii - she'd mentally smirked at that, knowing perfectly well what she wanted to have happen, and considered suggesting that maybe they were using the wrong definition of 'partner', but decided that would be too obvious - and thus no idea how long they'd be hanging around.

They'd be splitting up to search Oahu, which suited her just fine, as that would (in theory) make it easier for her to steal some time alone with Lucy, preferably this time without her team beating on the door. It was a big island, after all, and they had no idea where Lucy was going to be.

Amy realized, with some surprise, that she didn't need to know. She trusted that Lucy would show up wherever she herself went quickly enough, no matter what.

The DEBS would be checking in with each other every night at about 7 pm local time, to compare notes. Obviously, though, if any of them spotted any sign of Lucy's presence, they'd notify the others immediately. And just as obviously, that message would not be coming from Amy.

She was going to be based out of Waikiki, which had amused her, as it was just a short drive (or bus trip) from there to the Diamond Head State Monument. She didn't know how much time she'd have before her team converged on her location, deciding that since was The Bait, it would be a good idea to stick with her, so she was determined to make every minute count. She spent most of the flight thinking up a way to thank Lucy for the unofficial vacation (that it WAS a vacation and/or celebration actually had been one of the proposed ideas during the briefing, though that hadn't made them any less determined to capture Lucy - and her partner), and thought she finally had a winner by the time they landed and she caught a bus to Waikiki, after wishing the others good luck (and nearly being hugged to death by Janet). She checked in to the hotel, then headed back out to stop at a nearby market to pick up a few "necessities".

When she got back, she was unsurprised to find Lucy sitting on her bed, flipping through the movie list. "I was wondering when you were going to get back," Lucy remarked as Amy set her bags down on the room's main table. "Where did you- mmmph!" The rest of her sentence was cut off as Amy pushed her flat on the bed, leaned down, and gave her a kiss that seemed to suck every oxygen molecule from her body.

"I see you found the place all right," Amy said breathlessly after she broke off the kiss. "Where are you staying, just out of curiosity? In case we have to dodge my team."

Lucy greedily sucked in more air, then managed to reply, "Uh... just down the hall, actually."

Amy couldn't help but laugh. "Boy, when the guys in the travel department learn how close they were to you and still managed to miss you..."

"Well, I've never credited the government with an overabundance of brains," Lucy replied, then gave her another quick kiss. "With obvious exceptions such as yourself."

Amy smiled. "You don't need to flatter me, Lucy. You're already getting some."

Lucy stared at her for a second, then burst out laughing. "Oh, I missed you!" she said, giving Amy a tight hug.

"Likewise, obviously," Amy replied with a grin, hugging her back before letting go and getting up from the bed. "To answer your question, though, I was doing a little grocery shopping. I needed some supplies."

Leaning up on one elbow, Lucy raised an eyebrow. "Supplies for what?"

Amy gave her a pixish smile. "Oh, just a little surprise..."
