As promised, a fandom post!

So lately I've been sewing bear clothes; this is my second project, Tsuruoka's yellow/green outfit from Ooku. I spent a lot of time rewatching the midnight fight scene, which was totally okay with me. :D

Some movie references

It was lots of fun researching hakama construction and I tried to make this as accurate as possible while accommodating the obviously different proportions of a teddy bear. The bear in question is Okuma, from Okura's solocon--he's not quite a standard size bear, so I had to draft the pattern from scratch. I did cheat a little--there's supposed to be another green layer under the yellow, but I just made a separate snap-on collar and called it good.

It's really hard to see the sleeve patterns in the movie, so I took the color scheme and basically just made up some designs. The left sleeve approximates what I think the design might actually be; the right is based off of that wave motif you see on all of the promotional materials for Ooku.

Left sleeve front/back--I forgot to smooth out the satin stitching on the left back before taking the photo, so it's all rumpled. :/

Right sleeve front/back

In all, I think it took me about 15 hours, spread out over a couple weeks. Most of that was in the embroidery and pattern-making, but the fact that I was hand-sewing everything definitely added a lot of time. >.> Next on my list is either Can!Jani overalls or an 8UPPERS suit, I haven't decided yet.

okura, okuma, adventures in stitchery!
