When Elvis died, I was 14 and care all that much because I didn't really like him. I got to appreciate him over the next 10 years and he's been a favorite singer ever since. I did see (at least part if not all of) his satellite broadcast concert from Hawaii when I was 9 1/2 but I didn't like the white jumpsuits and how much he sweated and all the scarves LOL That's the Elvis I remembered 4 years later.
Diana was just a few months older than my best friend. I remember how excited we were when she became engaged to Prince Charles. Someone our age, marrying Prince Charles! (Never mind that we were in completely different social classes and that if we'd lived in England, we would never have had the chance to meet him.) I know there are people who dislike her, but like her or not, she died too young.

I suppose for me, with Diana, it seemed weird as Prince Charles is the identical age to my cousin. At the time he seemed so "old", that I couldn't understand what the personal attraction was!! But so young, and those 2 boys broke my heart at the funeral!
