You win some you lose some
Apparently, freezing apples does something to their moisture content. This is one ugly pie. It overflowed - spitting out apples and collapsing the rim of the crust. As long as the bottom of the pie is cooked nice, everything will be OK though - It should taste good - it's just going to be ugly.
