Your knitting/crocheting habits & desires
1. Do you knit, crochet, or do both?
I just knit.
2. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I've been knitting on and off for a few years, but am not very good at sticking with it! My mum taught me when I was very young and I picked it back up about 2 years ago. I think I am definitely a beginner; I tend to get bored quickly and have really only completed 4 projects: 3 scarves and an adorable little bag. I'm knitting socks on circulars at the moment.
3. What are your favorite yarns or fibers to knit with? What yarns/fibers do you avoid, dislike or hate? Are you allergic to any fibers?
I love sparkly, fluffy, girly yarns, even though I often swear at them. I don't really avoid anything, but because I do get bored, I tend to look for interesting yarns to keep my mind occupied. I'm not allergic to anything.
4. What do you use to store your needles/hooks? How about your other tools, like stitch holders and point protectors? Where do you store your yarn?
I store my current project in a small zippy bag that originally held some kind of toiletry products! Usually, I store larger projects in the bag I bought the yarn in. Ditto for the needles, stitch holders, etc.
5. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Do you have a needle preference-bamboo, aluminum, plastic, etc.? Any needles you'd like to try?
Well, I've knitted on mahogany (I think) straights for my first two scarves and then switched to circulars for my third scarf. I knitted my bag on circs and am currently knitting my socks on circulars, as well. I don't really like plastic needles as they seem to bend too much in my hands. I generally knit on metal circs, I guess, although I would probably knit on just about anything to try it!
6. Do you own a ballwinder and/or swift? Would you prefer to receive center-pull balls of yarn, if the person that has you owns a winder/swift and is so inclined?
I don't own a ball winder or swift and would prefer centre-pulls, although I can cope with whatever!
7. Are you a sock knitter? Do you want to learn?
I am working on my first pair and am hoping that I can time it right so my mother can show me what the heck to do with the heel. I don't really know how to read patterns--I've never actually tried anything complicated enough, I don't think, except the bag and that was easy!--but I suppose it can't be too difficult!
8. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
Well, I did enjoy knitting my bag, mostly because it was finished quickly. I would say that I probably wouldn't enjoy knitting a sweater or anything like that because I doubt I could ever choose, knit and fit anything flattering! So, I guess I like knitting small things with a bit of interest in them!
9. What are you knitting right now? Any current obsessions like socks, lace, felting, etc.?
Socks. I recently bought some yarn to felt myself some coasters to go with my new rug. I also just bought a 'knit-a-bag' kit, but I think I need some help with the casting on, so I'll have to wait until I see my mother again!
10. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? What have you always wanted to try knitting/crocheting?
Well, I did see a book on Amazon called Big Girl Knits, but as I stated above, I'm a little nervous about knitting sweaters. I have been bookmarking the sites of patterns I really like, though! Let's see, here they are:

11. How old is your oldest UFO (UnFinished Object)?
I think those would be my socks! Lol! I started them...gosh, I don't know...probably about 8 or 9 months ago. In my defence, however, I did knit a scarf and bag in between starting the socks and now!
12. Do you have any knitting magazine subscriptions? Any that you love or buy regularly?
I don't have any knitting magazine subscriptions.
13. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
I like to receive handmade gifts that are useful rather than decorative...is that bitchy?
14.Would you like to receive hand knitted socks? If so, what are your foot measurements? (Don't give just your shoe size-measure around the ballof your foot and also the length from heel to toe.) Of course, giving this information is no guarantee that you will actually receive knitted socks. It's just in case. J
Oooh...well, I wouldn't say no! Erm...length of foot is 27cm and ball of foot is 23cm. I'm crap at measuring accurately, though: you should hear what happened with the blinds in my last flat!
Non-knitting stuff
1. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? Include a link.
Well...I do, but it's really not up-to-date or anything, so I guess that's not really an option!
2. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products, etc.) Any you can't stand?
I like lavender. I don't like anything too cloying and I don't have a bath!
3. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy or snacks? Anything you would hate to get?
Totally do not have a sweet tooth. Chocolate would be completely and utterly wasted on me!
4. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (in case your buddy wants to make you a CD)
Hmm...I tend to like kind of poppy stuff with a bunch of cheese mixed in! I love Dolly Parton (and have most everything she's done!) and have been listening to Mika. My computer plays mp3s.
5. What is your favorite holiday?
Well, my favourite religious holiday is Passover because I get to spend it with my whole family, something that doesn't happen but once a year!
6. Do you have a favorite animated character, animal, etc.?
I like cats and horses, but I don't like animation very much.
7. Are you into any fandoms? (Harry Potter, Buffy, etc.)
I'm an American TV-aholic: Desperate Housewives, 24 (although I'm only on Season 1!), The L Word, Heroes, Prison Break, House, Veronica Mars, Lost, The Office, ER, Grey's Anatomy, Six Degrees...and then Doctor Who! Sad, I know.
8. How do you decorate your room/house? Is there anything that you collect?
I just moved into a new flat last July and I have very little space, so it's kind of minimalist in here! My rug is kind of beige-y, grey-y,light blue-y, pink-y and my sofa is beige. Walls are just sort of, you know, plain!
9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors youjust can't stand? Is there a specific color family/palette that you enjoy knitting with or wearing?
I like most colours and can generally wear most colours...or so I think! I have brown hair and eyes and kind of tanned skin.
10. Would you like and use icons, layouts, banners or wallpapers? Anything specific?
I'm a real whore for gorgeous older women, but I tend to use my default icon all of the time and have few banners/wallpapers in use, if any.
