It seems pretty pathetic to only post with a meme, so I will try to update and then post this meme I snagged from
lea724.
Hmm...*checks journal to see date of last update*...eek...12th of July.
Okay. School finished on the 22nd of July. I really think that's just far too late. A mid-June or late-June finish would be just fine. Then again, as someone (I don't remember who) told me, if we finished then, I'd be wanting an even earlier finish. Last day of term arrived and we all headed down to the Terrace Gardens for our annual picnic/piss-up. It was excellent.
The very next day, I flew out to NY to get ready for my tennis week with my dad and sister. But first, we had a little birthday cake for Amanda, as it was her birthday the following day. On Sunday, Dad, Amanda and I drove 6 long hours to North Conway, NH. Unfortunately, our trip was made even longer because we had to find a FedEx place that was open on Sunday (or self-service...thank you, Dartmouth!) in order to mail my aunt's parking pass back to her.
Suffice it to say that the next week was a very tennis-heavy one. Five hours a day of nothing but tennis. The parts of me that were exposed to the elements are very brown. The rest: pretty pasty.
On Friday, we reversed the trip, but skipped the FedEx. That night, my aunt threw a surprise 55th birthday party for my uncle. It was pretty fun. I got nicely tipsy...what can I say? They had margaritas!
The following day (Sunday, 30th), my mother and I drove (2 hours) to Sheffield, Massachusetts for the Berkshire Choral festival. Well. We rehearsed 5 hours a day and then performed Michael Tippett's A Child of Our Time and Henry Purcell's Come, Ye Sons of Art, Away. The Tippett was absolutely amazing. We were conducted by Nicholas Cleobury, who actually knew Tippett well. It was inspirational to sing under him and a very pleasant surprise to have enjoyed it so much, as I had sung with his brother at Cambridge and didn't enjoy it.
Finally, on Monday (8th August), I flew down to Florida where I have been for the last 10 days or so. And then tomorrow (Thursday), Amanda and I are going to Mexico! Yay!
