Mom would have been 83 this year. We lost her to cancer on May 27, 1995.
I have very few memories of my Grandpa. I remember running through my aunt's house, to the back room to see him. By that time, he was bed ridden, dying from lung cancer. He died in October 1963 - I was barely 3 years old.
I am asking you to support me in raising funds for the American Cancer Society - money for research, for services, for education. I've been participating in Relay for Life since 1998 - when I was given a chance to DO SOMETHING after Mom died. My team will have somebody walking from 10am Saturday to 10am Sunday. 24 hours.
Kyle, Alani and I will be at Relay all 24 hours. Karen & Gayle'll be there too, but I they're going home to sleep. Karen's Taiko group,
Tatsumaki Taiko will be playing again this year around 3pm on Saturday (so if you want to see Karen go at it on drums, here's your chance)
Come walk with us! Especially, come for the Luminaria Ceremony! At night fall, the survivors walk a victory lap, the course lit by the hundreds of luminarias in honor of and in memory of all our loved ones. Then everybody else joins in to support and remember all the people who are fighting, have fought and those we have lost.
Me? I like to walk around 2 in the morning. Come join me.
