Being a programmer, I can look at most things logically. The one thing I can NOT deal with dispassionately is kids. The trial they wanted me to serve on dealt with 1) somebody shooting a rifle into an occupied dwelling and 2) one of the victims was a child. I go ballistic. Consciously, I can deal with it. Subconsciously, if all things are equal, I'm going to rule against the accused because of the outrage. It's not logical, but that's just the way my thinking process works. I may not even realize it at the time - only in hindsight. Must be my mother hen tendencies taking over.
