we've hit rock bottom (bring out the drills)

Wow... is all I can say to the infinite stupidty I heard on the "News" today. Before you ask, no, I was not watching it. It was just on. First of all, let me just say that without some element of entertainment, the "News" is somewhere out there beyond pointlessness. I really don't think there is a word for it.

Today's hot topic was phone tapping. Woohoo. Did the media honestly JUST figure out it's going on? I laughed out loud. Really. Of course, I must admit that I mentioned it a few times about a year ago, and people went nuts. "OH NO! There's no way they could get away with that! They couldn't listen to my conversation! That's illegal!" (blah blah blah ect ect ect). People called me paranoid and many other words. I thought paranoid was being worried about something, but apparently it's now a synonym for freedom of speech. Now the "News" is catching up to the info (only because there was some big scandal about it... very political, as always). And I hate to be the bearer of bad news for those out there that "gave up" some privacy and freedoms to fight terrorism, but the same privacy invasions existed long before 9/11. But it was a great excuse to suddenly "legalize" those invasions.

I often find it funny (in a scary way) that so many people don't believe in the concept of conditioning. Apparently most people think that Hitler woke up one morning and announced that he felt like mass genocide that day. I don't put much stock in any book's slant on history, but I can't really see it happening that way. Yet, people feel pretty safe about their rights as long as the President doesn't hold a gun and scream that he wants cameras in every home by the end of the month. Wake up. Would any government invade its own population with a big announcement? Yeah right. They'd have to kill myself and the other 10 Americans that care.

Personally, I found the "News" quite boring. If the whole population is conditioned enough to call me crazy, I'm not really interested in helping them. Maybe someday I'll write a book that will get banned or something. Just for fun. Otherwise I'll just wait until Uncle Sam is living in my house, and then I'll leave the country. Let the people that called us crazy deal with the matter of "they went too far and it's too late." I've always wanted to live somewhere a little more relaxed than America anyway. Honestly, how many times a day do you look at the clock? More times than you look at your spouse? Oh yeah, I forgot, only a paranoid like me would think we're slaves to anything.

How did we get so stupid? Progress.
