3-14-08 - New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is scheduled to resign office on Monday due the scandal following news that he had patronized a high-priced prostitution service called Emperors Club VIP. Spitzer was accused of fraud due to his claim to be an Emperor, not merely Governor of NY. While Wall Street rallied in jubilation at the loss of one of its most effective fraud-fighters, others lamented that the entire fiasco could have easily been avoided if only Eliot had followed ET the extraterrestrial’s sage advice to ‘go home.’
Spitzer, aka 'Client 9,' has reportedly spent over $80,000 on call girls over a span of several years, bestowing particular favor upon prostitute Ashley Rae Maika DiPietro, aka 'Kirsten.' This was pocket-change to a man who has annual income of over $15 million due to real estate holdings and is heir to a fortune worth over $500 million. Nevertheless, $80,000 does pale in comparison to the $1 million that Demi Moore got for sleeping with Robert Redford in the movie, 'Indecent Proposal,' so it begs the question, what does Spitzer have that Redford does not? One can only assume that Kirsten was the low-priced bidder among her peers due to her shrewd perception of the commercial potential of a book and films deal once this special friendship met its un-'happy ending.'
The Emperors Club used a diamond rating system to price their girls, a development that was implemented in honor of their high-paying Client 9. The club's system modeled after NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope in Moffet Field, CA, an instrument that is designed for finding small diamonds in outer space. These gems are smaller than a grain of sand, much too small for an engagement ring. But they were perfect for incentiving staff at the Emperors Club, who weren't interested in marriage, only diamonds, and who themselves were highly skilled at locating small items in the dark.
