James M. Fay, 69, project manager, Habitat for Humanity volunteer

A Mass for James M. Fay, 69, of Toms River will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Church of the Immaculate Conception, Montclair, after the funeral from the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, 145 E. Mount Pleasant Ave.

Mr. Fay, who died Monday at home, was a steamfitter and project manager for many years and a member of the Steamfitters Union Local 475, Newark, for 47 years. Most recently, he worked for Lawton and Burns Contractors in Pequannock before retiring in 2002.

Mr. Fay was a volunteer and member of the board of directors of the Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity in Toms River.

He was also an eucharistic minister at St. Josephs Church in Toms River and at St. Raphaels Church in Livingston.

Mr. Fay was a set builder for musical productions at Msgr. Donovan High School in Toms River. He also belonged to the Ancient Order of the Hibernians Division No. 9 in Montclair and the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh in West Orange.

Born in Washington, D.C., he lived in Livingston for 35 years before moving to Toms River seven years ago.

Surviving are his wife, Carol; sons, James Jr. and John; daughters, Dr. Colleen Fay and Karen Brett; a brother, William; sisters, Patricia Magiera, Sister Elizabeth Ann Fay, S.C., Clare Hofmann and Kathleen Sisson, and eight grandchildren.
