So, anyhow,

We got married yesterday. It was a semi-elopement, but we had a good small handful of close friends there, including klaughingbrook and dindin. melebeth took a lot of time and trouble to take a lot of photographs, truly beautiful photographs. scooterbird performed the ceremony, which had some traditional Orthodox blessings in with some secular and Pagan elements. My condition was that I wanted to be married by a Christian man; scooterbird fits the bill very nicely, and has long been a support to both of us individually and as a couple. We were very lucky to be able to hold the ceremony at efbq's mother's house. She was very gracious and we are deeply grateful to the entire family.

Our friends are lovely. My godmother flew in from San Francisco, which was wonderful, and we went out to dinner at Phillips Seafood Restaurant. Due to a major bank SNAFU, we had some trouble paying for the part of our check that wasn't covered by our (fairly large) gift certificate, so efbq and scooterbird helped us with that as well, and are officially the best in-laws a girl could want.

My family (parents excepted) are enthusiastic and looking forward to our throwing a big party next year. It's nice to be surrounded by so many kind and supportive people. I feel very lucky. I also feel incredibly happy!

marriage, family, friends are the family you choose, fun
