LA, San Diego Comic-Con Report!

Ha ha wow I guess it's better late than never, eh?

Ok I think I've *finally* recovered from San Diego Comic-Con! I'm not yawning constantly and I can get by without taking a nap in the day. I don't think I'm the only one who believes a vacation is much needed after SDCC!

I did manage to make the trip a partial vacation though! This year, I drove down with my good buddies, Wahab Algarmi and Anthony Hon of Sturdy Comics fame. We dubbed this trip as the "Year of Dreams," to coincide with all the fun and silly stuff we had in store!

Our first stop was Medieval Times in Buena Park, which I hadn't been to since I was 8 years old. I had a feeling it would be a silly thing to go to, but it'd be a whole bunch of fun. Guess what...it was silly and it was fun! We were rooting for the Blue Knight, but alas he was not the ultimate hero of the show. That show is fixed!! I want my money back!

Our next stop was a life-long dream...to go see the Price is Right! I remember watching this show every weekday during summers when I was a kid and I could bust out prices for Ford Escorts and grandfather clocks on demand! Turns out Wahab is an even bigger fan of the show than I am so we were both super pumped to go. Anthony and my friend Chia Hwa (who joined us later) admitted that they only watched a couple of shows in their lifetime...which left Wahab and I dumbstruck. Luckily the game is so fun that it isn't hard to catch on. So part of the fun is waiting in line for more than 5 hours before getting into the studio...and surprisingly the time goes by pretty quickly. Everyone in line is so pumped to be there that you don't really notice how long you've been sitting or how many times you've been shuffled from bench to bench. Anyway, we finally got in and it was amazing!! I was most excited to see someone play Plinko! None of us got called up to contestants' row, but it was still exciting to see other people win big prizes!

After an exhausting time of screaming our heads off at the Price is Right, it was time to head down to Comic-Con!! It was my 7th time exhibiting at SDCC, and the show was a good one for me, in terms of sales and good times! It's always a stress magnet as well, but all the good factors always outweigh the bad ones. I love seeing and talking to long-time fans, and now I am watching a lot of them grow up! One family, the Edmunds family, even gave me several photos from cons past, each time with the family taking a picture with me behind the booth. They were so tiny just a few years ago! And here they are now! Notice the awesome Knives Chau cosplay!

The Edmunds were also nice enough to give me a hand sculpted Bumperboy necklace that I wore for the rest of the con. Fans like the Edmunds really keep me motivated to continue writing and drawing...it's hard work but I really cherish the fact that people enjoy reading Bumperboy and continue to support me. My fans are the best!

Unfortunately I didn't take as many pictures as years past, but here are some highlights:

So in a nutshell, this year's Comic-Con seemed to be more well-organized, crazy crowded as usual, always fun, always exhausting. Ok, I'm getting tired just from writing this blog entry...zzzz...Until next year, San Diego!
