Went to Newcastle yesterday, got all my Xmas shopping done near enough, just sweets to buy. College at least is almost done with this block so I don't have to draw bloody buildings any more which was depressing me. I'm still wondering if I have depression or at least mild with anxiety problems (it was murder in Newcastle without my de-stress tablets, I simply went "sttttreeeeessss" all the round round) which I still haven't been to the doctor about as I'm bothered about the side effects. Boyfriend warned me about vivid nightmares that anti-depressants have as a side effect and the other side effects (and possibly time off college) make me wonder if they would help me.
So onto something slightly cheerier. This Xmas list meme that I used to do but forgot about last year and maybe the year before.
Under a cut to save F-Lists.
Step One
# Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered ... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
# If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
# Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
# Surf around your friends list (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
# If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
1. Something, anything fandom related. Icon, fic, art, whatever. Fandoms include: Legacy of Kain, Dragon Age, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Uncharted, Mass Effect, My Little Pony, Doctor Who, ASoIaF, Discworld, Stephen King.
2. The Last Unicorn. I have been trying to get hold of this book for years and try as I might, I cannot find it in any bookshop. I loved the film as a kid, and the minute I found out it was a book I wanted to read it.
3. Gaming keyrings. Again, fandom related as they are just plain cool. Or pretty keyrings in general.
4. Stickers! Shiny stickers, sparkly stickers, puffy stickers, any kind of stickers at all.
5. Pretty pens. Same as above. Been looking for another pretty pen as my last one the ink ran out awfully quick.
6. Gloves. In dire need of a pair of warm gloves. The last good pair I had, I ended up losing one and the other is probably left in boyfriend's old flat.
7. A chocobo plushie. Been trying to promise myself one of these for a while but never did get round to it.
8. Recipes. Cake or sweets as that seems to be what I'm good at, but I enjoy trying something different and boyfriend is more than happy to be my official taster of whatever I make.
9. Music. Any genre, any song, anything at all.
10. A card. Seriously, I'd be more than happy with a Xmas card from anyone on my friends list as I'm really easy pleased and that would make my day.
If anyone else has done this then shoot me a link and I'll see if there's anything I can fill :)
In other news, I still haven't bought Assassin's Creed 3, I don't know if I'll like it. Opinions, anyone? Good? Bad? Good gameplay? Connor likeable enough?
I'm 10k behind on my NaNoWriMo attempt as well. Laptop decided it didn't want to work so I couldn't get anything done while in Newcastle. Apparently I need 2500 words per day to finish on time for November 30th, which at least is still doable. I should finish college early on Friday, maybe pull an all nighter tonight or try for the 2500 at least then marathon tomorrow.
And my Merrill/Orana fic has 9 followers on FF.net. And comments on the k!meme. Which is awesome :D!
