The first issue to be debated is the case of Terri Shiavo. The conflict had started when her husband, Michael Schiavo, wanted to get Terri's feeding tube removed because he believed that Terri would not want to live in a vegetated state for the remainder of her life. Her family lost many battles with the court to reinsert Terri’s feeding tube and

Michael Schiavo is a perfect example of Hitler, in modern times. He had, and still has, all the power over Terri and her family, and exercises them every chance he gets. Now one must wonder, why a man who hasn't cared for his wife in years, and on top of that has moved on with his life and now has a family with a common-law wife, would suddenly show interest in her "well being". He claims in his defense that Terri wouldn't want to live on life support, but yet, he had her REVIVED when she went into cardiac arrest 14 years previous. I believe there is definite motive to his sudden interest in "offing his wife". My theory: Either he's going to receive some money from a policy on his wife's life, or, he didn't want Terri to get better, in case she gets better and tells something he doesn't want people to know. I have heard on numerous tv shows that Michael has refused many treatment and rehabilitation resources offered to Terri, and, no one but Michael was home when Terri arrested...just a point to ponder, I think it's a bit suspicious...
The Shindler family ADORED their daughter/sister, and were there EVERY DAY to visit Terri. They also wanted her to be given a shot at rehabilitation, and were pleading near the end(to Michael) to let her live, and they would take care of her full time, he would have NO obligation to do anything. He still refused, and to this very day, is still ruling over the Schindler's, by cremating his wife's body when they wanted a Catholic burial, and, he EVEN went as far as to have her ashes buried in his personal designated location.(again, back to the power trip theory). Again, what is his personal interest in her? He has MOVED on in life, he has his own family, hell, he even has children, he should put himself in Terri's parent's shoes, seeing that he's a father himself.
And a quick opinion about bringing courts into these situations, I am sickened that a woman's life was made my people who have NO idea what Terri's condition really is like. They can only go on the information that is provided to them, which isn't a lot. I know that if that was me in the hospital bed, I HOPE TO GOD that strangers aren't going to be making my decisions.
My conclusion: Terri was not brain-dead, she was a living breathing, coherent human being who had a loving family, and was MURDERED by her husband. End of story. Sad but true.
