Don’t I get a vote?

The memories of his tender touch and ruthless lies seep into her consciousness.
She painfully remembers his frozen fingers dancing across her body.
His rancid stench of cheap cologne and sickening taste of tobacco.
His open arms send a chill down her spine.

She opens her mouth to scream, and though no sound is made,
There is still a resonating shrill within her shell.
Somehow, she never spoke aloud or at all.
Surely, this pain would resign with his timely death.

The dark room with yellow flowers seemed unnecessary.
His mourning brought tears and pain that made her numb.
His death didn’t remove her deep scars,
It forced blood to gush from the wreckage of her healing wounds.

And yet, he clenched her gut still.
A part of that bastard was growing inside.
Mutilation stole her innocence,
Devoured her soul,
And crept into her abdomen.

It swelled like the hatred she bore for him.
Fear contaminated her existence.
To bear this child of incest
Would be a death sentence
At the hand of all who loved him.
The monstrous man she called grandpa.

No other road, no other way.
Choice was a decency of the past.
No escaping this horrific nightmare.
She took a metal hanger from her closet,
Sat on the chilled bathroom floor.
“You can do this, it will only hurt for a little while.”
She whispered to herself.

With her legs sprawled,
Thrust the cold metal hanger into her guts.
Blood. So much blood.
And then she drifted away
As her cold numb body lay frigid on the bathroom tile.
