debate 1: uhh, i thought both sides could have been a little more clear here, but the vote goes to imaybeparanoid

debate 2: I vote cargill. badlydrawnjeff's proposal to completely shut our borders to all immigration, even if only temporarily, would be economically disastrous. Cargill does good enough on the education and high-skilled workers front to win the debate right now, but I don't think either contestant really realizes how utterly our economy would collapse if we suddenly shut our borders completely.

debate 3: on the straight facts of it, i thought the lord probably should have lost: until an operative connection between viable al-qaeda cells and khan in the past is produced, there is no reason to think he helped out bin laden et al. and since he is being constrained in his activities currently by the pakistani government, it's unlikely he'll be doing that currently. however, I don't think the sicilian argued well enough to win this point, and cribbing your answers from an online, available source is a good way to lose. my vote goes to the__lord.

debate 4: ya, i'm not goind to read that.

debate 5: i'm going with lovecrafty: I don't see the benefits of a not-publicly-supported-but-really-ya-go-for-it-israel type of policy: it will still incite more anti-US sentiment, as well as rally public support in Iran for the mullah's, which isn't something we should be doing. There are other approaches rather than sending out Israel as our hit-man in the middle east, contrary to what mrexcess states, and so lovecrafty is correct: an israel strike will just make things worse.

debate 6: I vote princessmerbear. somnambulisa's arguments aren't much more than ideological assumptions, and often contrast wildly with reality, and ultimately don't broach merbear's main concentration on the morality of democratic socialism, rather than the economic efficiency of capitalism vs socialism.

debate 7: i didn't really get moved by either side here, i'm not sure what's going on. however, I didn't hear a good argument from goatunit as to why there actually should be the US congress hearings specifically, so I vote fireuzer.
