Apparently, there is an issue affecting free accounts on the cluster that debate arena is currently on. This has caused the community to go in and out of read-only mode frequently, and has prohibited access to the memories section. Until this is resolved, if you're posting any sort of long post or comment, be sure to save the text somewhere else first, in case it gets eaten.
