prattle, some lists
I am very nearly caught up on Gossip Girl, wtf am I doing.
Generally: I really enjoy Blair, Dan, and Jenny. I like Serena, but sometimes her Reformed Party Girl Who Can Do No Wrong Ever complex is kind of obnoxious (mostly when she judges Blair repeatedly despite it being obvious that she was actually worse?).
Right now I am spending a lot of time LOL'ing at Georgina, because HARRIET THE SPY WEARING MAKEUP AND BEING A BITCH LOOL. but, in seriousness, I do not actually LIKE her, but I like that she makes Serena more interesting in that she forces Serena to acknowledge her Days of Partying Past. I also cannot muster much of anything towards Nate besides a few lulz, despite really wanting to like him. also: his mother is probably the most annoying character on the show for me, which is pretty impressive. and HAHAHAHA WHAT at Nate/Vanessa; I cannot even deal with the random. (Vanessa is v. cute but kind of cardboard for me just because she is so obviously supposed to be the antithesis of everything high society and sometimes her indie free spirit persona is a little over the top)
Chuck...I like better than I thought I would? but I still repeatedly come around to "TWO ATTEMPTED RAPES IN THE PILOT?!/1?1" The stretch of B/Chuck when he was all "wtf emotion" was fun, except then he decided to be a sleazy asshole again. and lol random sibling love for Serena, whaaaaaat? but I find it just a little endearing.
in conclusion, I don't even know. The show is pretty. That is my justification.
and WOW, a season 4 Doctor Who episode that did not tear my heart out of my chest; a welcome relief, also the episode was fuuuun.
Top 5 Characters
-Rose Tyler: She wears normal clothes and bad makeup, is on a hero's journey, refuses to give up her dreams for anything, and, most of all, changes the world.
-Frodo Baggins of the Shire and/or Éowyn of Motherfucking Rohan: I could never choooose. Frodo is all "I R CUTE MARTYR HOBBIT" and breaks my heart; Éowyn is a badass shieldmaiden ("strong she seemed and stern as steel, a daughter of kings." <33333) who finds truuuue love.
-Aang: little happy Chosen boy with such a genuine nature.
-G(a)linda Upland[, of the Upper Uplands]: emotional retardation, complete with pretty.
-Mark Cohen: wibble.
honorable mentions: everyone on Avatar ever, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, all hobbits, Pam Beesley, Will Parry, Hoban Washbourne and Malcolm Reynolds, Donna Noble, The Doctor, Fiyero & Elphaba, Mary Jane Watson, Juliet Burke, Addison Forbes Montgomery(-Shepherd), Will Turner.
Top Five Oh Tee Peeees
-Aang/Katara: they are best friends and the epic troo loves of each other's lives (their Most Important People) and also doofy kids who liiiike each other.
-Mai/Zuko: it's likely that I am just in it for the hilariously frequent maikouts.
-Doctor/Rose: because RTD is so obviously telling one freaking epic love story.
-Elphaba/Fiyero/G(a)linda: oh my dysfunctional ozians.
-Faramir/Éowyn: inevitably, I just end up spamming pretty Tolkien prose whenever I talk about these two! so, cutting to the chase:

disclaimer: my incredibly sketchy taste manifests itself most obviously in movies, because I just do not have the motivation to be well-versed in good cinema so much as I just like to enjoy kitsch. (also, I am five years old.)
-Newsies: LOL.
-The Lord of the Rings trilogy: dude, the epic.
-The Lion King: my love is inexplicable. it is just very epic and pretty and hilarious. (also: Mulan, because the title character will always be my hero.)
-Spirited Away/Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi: more any and all Miyazaki, but I chose to list this one because it is so pretty.
-I don't even really know what to put for the last slot. Pirates one and three? The Princess Bride? Juno? I really, really fail at cinema. Not denying.
