Actually I use GIMP. :P So no, not translatable at all! But anytime I find a tutorial that shows what the image should look like after each step (as opposed to just listing a bunch of settings without example images) I can learn a lot by trying to recreate it a different way.

Selective coloring definitely gives it a look that I can't seem to replicate, but I played around with color layers and got this:

It's not the same, obviously, but I certainly learned some things that I'm excited to try on other images. :) So thank you! And please keep doing tutorials... Your coloring is always stunning so I love to find out your secrets even if I can't always implement them. ;)

Oh you're very welcome! I'm glad you found it useful *hugs*

Wow you got the coloring pretty well, it does look like mine, at least at first sight. The main part is Terry's eye, the thing was to make it stand out, and you got it. The skin also has the same tone as in my icon. Great job, I think this tut was pretty hard to try to translate...

Sure thing... I basically just fiddled around with a whole bunch of color layers at different opacities (I'll list them out for you, but of course it'd be different for every image), but the key ingredient seems to be having a light color layer set to the value mode. I used a light yellow, but it doesn't seem to matter what color it is as long as it's light -- I tried red and blue and white and they all looked pretty much the same. If you set the layer to value at 100% it makes everything these crazy, psychedelic, neon colors, but at a low opacity it makes the colors brighter and lighter. So here were the layers I had:

-Duplicated base and set to screen at 100%
-Bright yellow layer (#fef50a) on soft light at 17%
-Light yellow or whatever (I used #fbf9d1) on value at 57%
-Dark blue (#090729) on subtract at
29%
-Dark blue (#090729) on screen at 100%
-Sky blue (#91caff) on burn at 100%
-Light blue-green (#c9fdff) on burn at 100%
-Rosy pink (#fbddd1) on burn at 100%
-Followed the tutorial's steps for the texture
-Duplicated base, dragged to the top, and set on soft light at 35%

I hope that makes sense! Like I said, the value mode seemed to be the most important thing in making the colors really stand out, and everything else was just subtle fiddling around with the coloring. I've tried using the value mode on a couple of other images, and sometimes it looks nice when used very sparingly (like at 20% or less) and sometimes it looks horrible. :P I guess it's all about experimenting, huh?

Good luck!
