Day 07: Most Heartbreaking Scene
Naruto and Sasuke post-Valley of the End
[Naruto]
Yep, NaruSasu again. I tried to be more varied, but this is just the truth. I hate and love this scene because it makes me miserable but shows how much Sasuke did care, and the whole thing just kills me. Sasuke's logic is twisted (and makes sense in his own Sasuke, PTSD way). He doesn't want to do--says he left Naruto alive on a whim--but anyone with an ounce of ability to read people understands that Sasuke left him alive because he couldn't kill him because he cared too much, and Sasuke says himself that he left because he was losing focus on his goals for revenge. He was too happy, I guess. This scene to me is kind of Sasuke consciously giving up his happiness (represented by Naruto through the way Kishimoto set this part of the plotline up with Sasuke and Naruto in this fight scene) in order to pursue what he thinks is his duty, and this post-battle scene for me expresses Sasuke's sadness and regret in doing what he feels like he has to do.
These two kill me.
NOTE: Since I am technically a day late, I will post Day 8 a little later today. ^_^
