After many setbacks and physical challenges, here I am.
So, I have a sort of website that I'm playing with when I'm not hackerspacing or timesheet firefighting at
deathweasel.net. I don't really post anything personal there other than artwork, which is personal only to psych types.
If you're nice, you could suggest some things I could put up there to make it less bad. I need to work on my UI skills. I'm supposed to be an "artsy" type. :)
Also working on getting better with C++. It's such an expansive language... part of me thinks I should use it for what I need to use it for and try "mastering" a more condensed static language like Java or C#. On one hand, that may be smart because so many things have Java APIs and C# is the language of Microsoft. OTOH, I can learn those other languages when I need to (I picked up C# when I needed to for an internship) and I just have an ... intimate relationship with C++ from way back in high school when I first learned it. Oh, C++, why can't I quit you?
Other languages that keep catching my eye are Clojure and Scala.
Clojure is a Lisp written on top of the JVM. Go write a post- or pre-fix calculator in an OO language to see my primary attraction to the Lisp brand. There's
a lot more to Clojure than that, but I'm barely scratching the surface. Having to use it almost exclusively through a JVM driven REPL makes it clumsy to use.
I don't know much about Scala so far, but it seems like "better Java with functional programming aspects".
I like the idea of better $common_static_language. It's worth investigating.
I don't know if anyone reads this anymore. Maybe prospective employers. If so, hi there!
