I just watched Dark City. I really liked it. But I really didn't think I would from the beginning. To be honest I was skeptical through the first half. But then things really started piecing together, and turned out to be really awesome ( Read more... )

Dark City is a classic man as is 12 monkeys.

I saw the beginning of Serenity and i was turned off by it so i didn't watch the rest. I actually liked Riddick more than Pitch Black, although i dont know why.

City of God is pretty amazing too. My reccomendations are "Boyz in the Hood" and "Dead Presidents" two excellent darkie films.

If you have some time on your hands... about 8 hours worth... Dune

I haven't seen Deer Hunter yet. That sounds good from what I've heard.

I've always been interested in Dune. But like you said that seems like it'll be long, and probably not something i can download easily. Maybe we can rent the stuff this summer.

Dude, if you get Dune get the David Lynch version not the miniseries version.

The Lynch version has Sting in it man, plus its only like 2.5 hrs.

Yeah, but it doesn't look very good. This is based on the trailers at videodetective.

Plus the miniseries got .4 better on imdb. .4!

I watched the first 2 and half hours of the 8 hour mini series version and, if it weren't for the fact i was in NC vacationing and it weren't 2 in the morning I would have watched the rest. It's the eyes, they just draw you in. Bright blue.... must... watch.... Dune

Oh and the sand worms, bad ass!

Lynch is better. That version probably is better even though Lynch has tried time and time again to disinvolved himself with it. At one point the director's name attached was not David Lynch but Alan Smithee. Alan Smithee is a psuedonym used by directors who do not want anything to do with a film. The same happened to Caligula for a long time. After the birth of DVD and the internet these psuedonyms became pretty much useless because people go to great depths to find information and it's all posted online for everyone. It's impossible to hide from what you might consider professional mistakes.

Okay. Hmmm...who's movie tastes do I trust more....Bill or Kevin/Dan?

Ryan's going to have to be the final say. He's been on lately.

I will not comment on Dune, I have seen the mini-series many years ago when it aired on TV. I have not seen Lynchs f-up of a movie (not in a bad way, he is just f-ed up) So I cannot comment on which is better because I do not remember the mini-series.
