So since I've been traveling in England I've taken a liking to the English heavy-metal band Iron Maiden. Actually it's probably more accurate to say I've fallen head-over-heels in love with Iron Maiden and everything they stand for. Sorry - I really don't have much comment on your subject, as I'm not really that well acquainted with Iron Maiden, but I did check JKRs birth year and it was 1965. So she's probably about 10 years younger than them. Therefore, I doubt it was about the wake of WWII for her.

Now whether or not it is a specifically British 'thing' is up for question. Is it the subject of death in particular or more freedom that has you pondering?
