Look, one of the periodic updates.

2 Thursdays ago, my power supply let go.

1 Thursday ago, my video card went kaput.

I got a new power supply and I've for the moment replaced the video card with my trusty voodoo3 2000 PCI.

On Thursday I also sat down with another student and discovered the assignment from hell. Ok, not hell percisely, but none of us have more than a token amount in our notes about it. That was after discovering the book for another class has multiple section 8s, and it's similar to what I'm doing in another class, and I didn't figure that out until just before class, so I had the actual section 8 to do (Now marked with a post-it note).

Today, I sat down to fix a small problem. On some machines the clock was running too fast. I'd put a band-aid around it by telling it to sync with a reliable clock every couple of minutes.

Turns out it wasn't as a small problem as I thought, so it took most of the day to more or less sort it out. Let me restate something I've stated before: ACPI is obnoxious. The recent flap about Microsoft's ACPI driver messing up on core duos, 100% understandable. From what I've seen and heard the spec is not constant. It's working now. Just took a lot longer than I expected it to.
