[Lit class is about the only one Crowe has even been half-paying attention to lately. However, when it comes to actually doing creative writing instead of just reading it, he utterly fails. Near the end of class, all he's managed to do is jot down some meters and rhyming schemes. He mutters to himself, frowning.]

[Susan takes a cursory glance before raising an eyebrow.]

Speak up, Mr. Crowe. Are you offering an explanation for this?

Er. Sorry. I'm just not good at...stuff like this.

That's fine. I'm not even sure what qualifies as 'good' in this line of work. But I don't seem to see a poem on here . . .

...I really don't know where to start.

Start from the beginning and go until you reach the end. What are your hobbies?

Ah. Reading, I guess. And sports. Outdoorsy stuff...

We'll go with sports. A poem about reading would be too self-referencing for my tastes.

[Taps his pen, thinking] I-I don't know... good, of course. It's nice because you're usually not thinking about what else is going on except whatever it is you're playing. The rest of the world goes away.

Lan is also incapable of poetry perfektsymmetry March 4 2011, 03:08:57 UTC
[He furrows his brow, tapping his pen a few more times before setting out to scribble something down. What results is a poem where he obviously tried make up for his lack of artistic creativity by throwing some big, flowery words about soccer. It also takes him the rest of class to finish before he hands it in, looking none too happy about it.]

...Um. I tried, miss.

[Susan reads it briefly, bites her lip at the use of 'intermidst', flickers her gaze briefly to the side at 'o spherical object I do kick', and sets it down with an attempt at a reassuring look.]

And for poetry, I won't ask anymore than that. Good.

[He smiles sheepishly.] ...Sorry you had to read it.

That's not something to apologize for. Class is dismissed, you can go.
