Damage Control

[filtered away from Death . . . after a moment's thought, away from Teatime as well]
As some of you may have heard, a relation of mine has recently come into town.  A close friend of my parents, to be exact.  The old, ah.  The old dear was in charge of my upbringing after the age of sixteen, and he considers me to be a grandchild of sorts.  I, in turn, view him as my Grandfather.

. . .

It's a sad state of affairs, but the elderly can be . . . a bit misguided in their senescence.  Grandfather . . . Grandfather Door is perfectly fine in all other respects, but he does entertain some decidedly strange thoughts at inconvenient times.  It's best to ignore him if he says anything that isn't sensible.  And to be perfectly honest, he isn't quite human -- very close, though, no I won't say -- so he'll have some difficulty adjusting.  There aren't many folk his age here.  I ask that you treat him well.

If you have any more questions about him or my family, you're welcome to ask.

Do you remember that talk about human constructs after that debacle with the Hogfather?  You're learning one.  It's called lying.  You're a Klatchian wizard until you regain your true body.  . . . No, better make that sourceror.

You've thought about it, I know.  Stop thinking.  Keep this between the two of us and forget your curiosity.
