Some of the folks on my friendslist might have heard about this already, but over the past year,
various libraries in Edinburgh have been gifted with the most amazing paper sculptures, made out of various books. The sculptures, ten in all, have all been left as gifts by the same mysterious person, obviously a fan of books, writing, libraries and Ian Rankin, among others.
I've been following this story on and off over the past year, with a thrill of excitement and pleasure. I love little mysteries like this and the idea of someone going somewhere and leaving something so beautiful for the joy of it really hit something in me.
I'm a bit sad it's over now, but the sculptures are all safe and will be displayed by their recipients, which is also kind of awesome.
And if you want close up photos of all of the sculptures, follow
this Flickr stream. They really are amazing works of art.
