Giant Meme o' Me - Day 11, 12 and 13

Apr 03, 2011 18:09

Oops, got a bit behind on this due to Busy. So, three posts in one.

I have just the one sibling, my brother David. He's about eighteen months younger than me, which puts him at just turned 39. He's married to a lovely woman called Eva and they have a daughter, Zoe, and another baby due in August.

We moved a lot when we were kids, so a lot of the time we were each others' best friend, and the other half of the time we fought like cats and dogs. We were very different, Dave following our mother's side of the family in looks and personality, and me following Dad. As kids we'd come to blows quite a bit, but we'd also defend each other from outside attack. It was what you did - you looked out for each other.

As teens, our differences grew more pronounced. We fought more between ourselves, more personality clashes than anything, although it didn't help that Dave was always being told he should be more like his smart older sister. The year I spent in Japan proved to be as good for him as it was for me - he got to have our parents' attention all to himself, as well as moving to a technical college that suited his talents more and who had never heard of me. It was more difficult the next year, as I was finishing high school and he was trying to decide what to do with his life - the next year, we both left home, him to join the Army and eventually the transport corp, and me to university and a degree.

Strangely enough, when we aren't living together, we get on really well. The years have matured both of us, and we've both learned to respect the other. He's got real insight into people and he has a free and easy way that is always relaxing to be around. He also makes an awesome travelling companion - Italy was a lot of fun with him.

I'm so proud of him, what he's done with his life and the type of man he's become.

Way too much stuff, atm. Let's see:

Wallet
Notepad and pen
Hairbrush
Moisturiser
Hand sanitiser
Sanitary napkins
Tampons
Headphones x 3
iPhone charger
USB stick
Lip blam
Coldsore cream
Postage stamps
Pens
Highlighter
Another notebook
Work access card
Business card from Say It With A Rose
Ticket from Saturday's Jays game
Printouts of various XP Wiki pages needing updates.

Oh, and apparently, a cat. Spike keeps trying to climb into my bag, which is silly, 'cause he's way too big for it.

Good timing, given today is Sunday and the end of the week, so to speak...

This week's been a really busy one work-wise, with the end of the financial year and the need to have all expense claims in. Jane was in on Wednesday, which added to the work - we wound up having three hours of meetings with all the prosecutors, trying to work out some common ground in light of some changes and issues coming from the client. We're also down one assistant, with H on vacation, so I've been getting work from her lawyers as well. Thursday was pay day, and I got my tax return on Wednesday, so at least all the work is worth it? Oh, and I had my performance appraisal on Thursdays as well, which went well.

I missed Band Night on account of being exhausted and needing sleep, and Wednesday was therapy night, which went pretty well. Friday was the opening game for the Toronto Blue Jays (that would be baseball), so we were at the pub watching the game (which we won, 13-3, by the way). Saturday was more baseball, as the roomie, the pretty girl upstairs and the roomie's parents and I went to Rogers Stadium to watch the second game of the series. Another win, this time 6-1. Poor Minnesota. Today has been a lot more quiet, which is good since it's back to the grindstone tomorrow - lunch at 17 Steps and watching part of today's game there (we lost this one, 4-3) and then an afternoon reading on the couch. And that's it, so far.
