[2.001: Arrival]

Feb 24, 2009 17:03

[A sphere clicks on and . . . appears to simply be broadcasting an image of the beach for several moments. The scenery spins suddenly, and Tsuna can be seen scanning the surrounding area intently. He's tense, glancing warily at the ocean any time a wave breaks on the shore, but apparently focused on whatever he's looking for at the moment. They have ( Read more... )

[Immediately, one image on that sphere jolts to attention and stares]

Tsuna? Is that you?

[He scrambles back a little more, for a split second looking as though he might just take off down the beach. But that is a familiar voice.]

Y-Yamamoto?

[The image is exhausted for that usually brighter face, even for ten years later. Right now he stares in something like disbelief, but some life floods back into his posture nonetheless.]

It's me. But. . . we looked for you everywhere. You came back?

[He frowns when he picks out Yamamoto's image. That age couldn't be right . . . And what he was saying didn't seem to be sitting well with Tsuna either, tension creeping into his stance again.]

What do you mean "came back"? I've never been to a place like this before!

[The smile drops off his face]

You don't remember? Or maybe you've really never been here, a different version. . .

[. . . But suddenly something else occurs to him, that even if this was another hallucination, he just couldn't RISK it if there was any possibility that the real Tsuna was out there all alone.]

Where are you on the beach?

[Shakes his head.]

I'd . . . If it's a place like this, I'd remember!

[He falls silent for a minute, eying the sphere suspiciously. It could be a trap, but . . . if it were, they wouldn't have used the younger face of his friend, and certainly wouldn't ask strange things about "coming back"; he was sure of that. There were plenty of other questions to ask about that, but for the moment it could wait.]

I'm -- um. There's a . . . ship? I don't know anything about north or south, but it's on my left--

[He reaches out suddenly, grabbing the sphere and turning it so the fallen Crucible is in view. It's a few hundred meters down the beach.]

I'm coming to where you are.

[And he starts moving towards him right away, his sphere trailing along with him.]

O-Okay.

[He lets the sphere go, and it spirals for a moment before resuming it's focus on Tsuna. He watches the ship for a few seconds, then looks back at the image of Yamamoto on the sphere. It really was strange, this older version being here.]

. . . Hey.

[Doesn't slow down as he answers] Hmm? What's up?

Well, it's . . . Shouldn't your younger self be here instead?

I guess that would depend on where "here" is.

You're not in Namimori anymore, Tsuna.

You don't mean I'm in that machine, do you?!

[Pauses for a second]

Eh? No, you're not in anything like a machine. You're on an alien planet. What machine?

The strange white machine. I guess you wouldn't be able to know about it . . .

[. . . He pauses.]

[...Has no idea what Tsuna's talking about, and this bothers him a lot right now. But Tsuna's reaction to the planet is so nostalgic he can't help but smile, and pick up some speed]

Yeah. Pretty wild, huh?
