'on another note. not having a car or a license SUCKS.'

What sucks even more is knowing you should have a licence now but you can't get one. But life's unfair like that.

I could have mine now...but I don't even have my permit yet, hah. Oh well...I'll get it eventually...I'm not even sixteen yet.

How old do you have to be to get a licence there? Here, you get your learners' when you're sixteen and a half, your provisional when you're seventeen, and ... I think when you're eighteen you get the full thing. I'm not totally sure though. Seeing I can't drive, I don't really pay all too much attention.

It varies state to state, but in Nevada you can get your learners permit at 15 1/2 and your license 3 months later. In some states it's different, but the general age to get your license is around 16.

I can't imagine waiting til I was 18! Gosh... here if you wait until you're 18, you don't have to have your learners permit you can go straight to getting your license, but I would hate to wait that long.

There isn't really much distinction between the provisional and the full thing, just that if you do something wrong, you get a more severe punishment, and the blood alcohol limit is lower. I actually think the age limit here is absurdly low - if you're younger than eighteen, I don't think you should be able to get a licence. Sure, some teenage drivers are responsible, but when I look at the people in my grade, I realise most of them are more a menace on the road than anything. What particularly scares me is that my grade is pretty good compared to the general teenage population outside my school.

Well, I know a lot of teenage drivers. Plus here most parents work full time and so it's easier for their kids to get to school and work, etc, if they can drive. It makes things a LOT easier.

For me, I'll be able to go to a church on the opposite side of town if I want to, or stay out late with my friends and not have to worry about getting a ride home. I'll be able to get to work easily (once I find a job that is) instead of my mom having to leave her job to come and take me, and be able to shop on my own, etc.

It's just a huge priviledge.

How many questions are on the learners test over there? I know in Britain it's 30, but I haven't got a clue about anywhere else... here it's 50 questions, and to pass you have to get alteast 80% right.
