His fingers pressed still against the wound, the steady beat of Armand's heart may as well have been a thumping bass drum against Louis' cold flesh. Louis intook a sharp breath.
"But you are not dead yet. Have no fear, friend."

The words are automatic, because Armand still confused. He looks down at Louis's hand, as if trying to analyze the touch. But the truth is, he's trying to figure out why he can feel and hear an apparition.
